As promised, the British Fashion Awards honored Naomi Campbell for her influence on, and contribution to, the fashion industry over the past 25 years.
And though the announcement was made prior to the event, in true to Naomi style, the actual situation turned out to be even more magical than anyone could have predicted. Considering the British Fashion Awards’ decision to posthumously award Alexander McQueen with the title of Outstanding Achievement in Fashion Design, it only made sense that the supermodel would choose to wear a custom made gown by the designer for the evening.
But that’s not all. In order to come full circle, the British Fashion Awards requested that Edward Enninful present Naomi with her award. The pair met during a very important moment for Naomi - on set shooting her first i-D magazine cover! With tears and an emotional speech, Naomi accepted her award and thanked her mother!
