As we approach the final days of 2011, it’s time to look back on the year’s standout fashion moments by the year’s most stylish supermodels. Narrowing down our list to one single style guru is beyond impossible – honestly, how do you compare a couture gown at the Met Ball to a casually chic street style look during Fashion Week? – so we divided our first annual Style Awards into 5 categories: Hottest Red Look, Biggest Risk Taker, Best Red Carpet Glam, Best Accessorizer, and Best Model Off Duty.
Tapering our list wasn’t easy, especially when we found ourselves placing the same model in multiple categories but after much debate we secured our finalists and chose one best dressed supermodel for each of the five categories. From the most exquisite red ensembles to the edgiest fashionistas to hit the pavement, we’re pleased to present the first annual Modelinia Style Awards of 2011!
From Left to Right: Miranda Kerr, Gisele Bündchen, Karlie Kloss, Alessandra Ambrosio & Lara Stone
Red dresses on the red carpet were everywhere this year but it was Karlie Kloss wearing the sultry Jason Wu gown that stole our hearts!
From Left to Right: Hanne Gaby Odiele, Agyness Deyn, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Heidi Klum & Ruby Aldridge
Almost every model is a fashion risk taker at some point, but only Abbey Lee Kershaw is able to pull off such eccentric style each and every day of her life.
From Left to Right: Coco Rocha, Chanel Iman, Doutzen Kroes, Michelle Alves & Izabel Goulart
This was easily the most difficult decision in our Style Awards. With so many gorgeous gowns this year it seemed nearly impossible to choose. But when it came down to the final five there was no way we were going to let anyone but Doutzen in her Giambattista Valli couture take the winning spot.
From Left to Right: Heidi Klum, Julia Stegner, Anja Rubik, Dree Hemingway & Jacquelyn Jablonski
Sometimes all it takes is a good accessory to make an outfit standout and Anja Rubik has one of the most covetable accessory closets around. Here she pairs oversized, fringy Isabel Marant boots with a classic satchel and cashmere scarf.
From Left to Right: Karolina Kurkova, Miranda Kerr, Joan Smalls, Kate Moss, Freja Beha Erichsen
During Fashion Week, the sidewalk is as active with photographers and models as it is on the runway. This year Joan Smalls seemed to wind up on as many Street Style blogs as she did catwalks making her an easy win for the model with the best Off Duty look.
