The Editors' Picks: Our NYFW Obsessions!

We’ll admit, since New York Fashion Week wrapped last week, the Modelinia edit team has had some trouble letting go of it all.  In fact, we doubt there has been a conversation among us as of late that hasn’t made its way back to our favorite trends from the runway, the incredible street style, and of course, everyone’s favorite model moments. Needless to say, we’re slightly obsessed. The good news though, is that we’re taking our Fashion Week chatter from the Modelinia water cooler straight to the blog, with a special inside look into what our editors couldn’t get enough of at the Spring 2013 shows.  Take a look at each of our editors’ top Fashion Week picks below, and prepare to get obsessed!

1.) Altuzarra’s otherworldly collection- especially on model Mirte Maas!

2.) Kinga Rajzak, especially in that stunning red Carolina Herrera dress.

3.) The dusty pink eye makeup at J. Mendel.

1.) Jessica Stam’s couture mask for the Lady Gaga masquerade.  It was custom made by Marchesa and took hours to apply with silver and gold paint around her eye!

2.) Cara Delevingne’s gold trimmed eye makeup at the Marchesa show.

3.) The wet tresses at rag & bone.

1.) I simply adore model Lin K! She was sitting alone in complete hair and makeup waiting backstage for the Marc by Marc Jacobs show to start when I met her.  She seemed shy, but when I went up to talk to her she gushed about how excited she was to be opening the show.

2. I loved the ’50s inspired looks from Alice + Olivia! My favorite was a head-to-toe leopard look that literally had my name written all over it. It also didn’t hurt that they were serving chocolate ice cream bars and fun drinks with over-sized ice cubes that had flowers in them!

3.) I’m also obsessing over the oxblood nails at Prabal Gurung.  I went and bought a similar shade that I can’t wait to put on.

1.) The Marchesa Spring collection combined two of my favorite things: gorgeous gowns and India! The ivory, blush, orange, shocking pink, eggplant, burgundy, and bright blue dresses are like the most exquisite gems. I don’t know how any girl wouldn’t feel like a princess!

2.) Loved the street style! The shot of fabulous style blogger, Elin Kling, outside Ralph Lauren in a loose black pant suit was one of my favorites.

3.) The major model moments at Zac Posen! Coco Rocha closing for Zac Posen in that jaw-dropping ivory gown is by far my favorite visual from New York Fashion Week! And, Naomi Campbell opening up the show was such a treat!

1.) The Edie Sedgwick inspired look at the Marc Jacobs show was incredible! That mod-60’s look has always been a favorite of mine, and no one did it better than Edie!

2. ) Rodarte’s powerful warrior women! The gladiator and body armor inspired collection encompassed everything I look for in fashion: beauty, strength, creativity, and fun!

3.) I couldn’t get enough of Karlie Kloss’s AMAZING cookies! They were fashionably wholesome, and sinfully delicious.

1.) I was particularly obsessed with Proenza Schouler’s collection. The setting for the show was a building shrouded in scaffolding, and the interior was abandoned and tomb-like. Dangerous, but beautiful just like the clothes the designers’ presented.

2.) Chatting with Hanne Gaby Odiele backstage at Vera Wang was so fun! Her opinion on fashion is so unique. Her favorite trend for Fall is big shapes— I think she’s on to something.

3.) The 3.1 Phillip Lim show blew me away! I want every single piece. It’s crafty, grungy, yet feminine and modern. Everything a city girl wants to wear. Plus there were overalls!
