Jacquetta Wheeler is now a Gucci girl, again. Frida Giannini tapped the model to pose for the brand’s Fall ’09 ad campaign images, along with Raquel Zimmermann, Freja Beha Erichsen, and returning Gucci lover Natasha Poly. Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin captured the girls in the same vein of previous seasons: “a continuation of Frida’s Gucci generation,” in a studio in north London. “We’re in London, so of course I had to have an English girl,” said Frida of her choice of Jacquetta. There’s still a few months wait before the images will be seen, however, as they’ll appear in September issues of Vogue, Elle, GQ, Harper’s Bazaar, and Vanity Fair.
Meanwhile, Abbey Lee Kershaw is back for the brand, but this time she’s trying out silent acting. She stars in Gucci’s commercial for its rediscovered fragrance, Flora, in a field of flowers. Looking like the ultimate hippie chick, Abbey Lee takes nature into her own hands after smelling the perfume, using wind to move the flowers, and then shape-shifting into a butterfly. The commercial was shot in Latvia last July with 20,000 fake flowers and paired with an amazing soundtrack—Donna Summer rerecorded her “I Feel Love” vocals just for the occasion. When you’re Frida and it’s Gucci, that’s possible. Check out a behind-the-scenes video below.
