The Karlie Kloss Like

The spirit of Valentine’s Day was in the air backstage at Donna Karan on Monday, as models, hairdressers, and manicurists were discussing roses and presents for significant others. Modelinia was totally drinking the Valentine’s Day Kool-Aid. We came to the show, tshirts in hand, immediately came across Karlie Kloss, and bequeathed to her the Facebook inspired LIKE. To our delight, Karlie was an immediate fan of the souvenir, holding it up and showing the other models backstage, including Jacquelyn Jablonski. Once we explained the six different shirts, starring Coco Rocha, Behati Prinsloo, Lara Stone, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Chanel Iman, and Dree Hemingway, Karlie modestly questioned how she made it into the esteemed of models… to which we say, Karlie, please.

After a quick snap posing with her new shirt and a thumbs up, Karlie jetted off to preview the runway she’d be closing for Donna Karan. We ran into Dorothea Barth Jorgenson, who explained the necessity of sticking to tea instead of coffee during Fashion Week, saying, “I love the taste of coffee, but I only drink tea during Fashion Week. Once in a while I’ll have a cappuccino if it’s really necessary.” Don’t know how you do it, Dorothea, but we may be inspired to try your advice. After Fashion Week, that is.

While Melissa Tammerijn passed the time playing video games on her Nintendo DS, Lisanne de Jong and Daphne Groeneveld chatted, and more than one person swooned over Ginta Lapina’s Marc Jacobs boot leggings. With ballerina buns and pink pouts, models including Hanne Gaby Odiele, Arizona Muse, Lindsey Wixson, and Frida Gustavsson took to the runway in Donna Karan’s collection, called Pearls of Wisdom. Between the nipped waists and draped dresses, Donna’s model muses were an elegant vision to behold. ~ Bianca Posterli
