The Master, Mr. Meisel

Steven Meisel is a masterful photographer. So much so that he was a part of the model-infused May 2009 issue of Vogue. His influence and vision is legendary. This we know.

But it’s interesting to note that in just one week, three models have discussed the importance of Steven and even gone on to describe working with him as “model school.”

First Daria Werbowy explained that he taught her “all the old-school tricks; how to move, how to jump, how to pull back my ears to prepare my face for the camera. Working with him is a little like modeling school.”

Then Agyness Deyn referred to his way of teaching as if she went to a special university, saying “Steven basically started my career. I always say it was like going to the Steven Meisel school of modeling, ’cause I was, like, dead tomboy. Working with him made me be so much more body-aware and mind-aware and creatively aware.”

And finally, Ubah Hassan has major love for the photographer ever since she was featured in the Black issue of Vogue Italia.

But did you really need anymore reasons to think that Steven was amazing?
