The Number One Position

It goes without saying that two of the most important positions on the runway are the opening and closing slots. This has become even more apparent when it comes to Prada.

Lindsey Wixson opened the Prada Spring 2010 catwalk and immediately garnered attention from designers, editors, fans, and writers, steering her career into a major forward motion. From her exclusive and opening moment, she snagged the closing moment on the Miu Miu runway, and later fronted the campaign. A year later, it was Arizona Muse opening the Spring 2011 runway, who’s since been compared to Linda Evangelista and Natalia Vodianova in her debut feature in Vogue. Clearly the order of models is more than a little important to Miuccia Prada.

So for the Fall 2011, it was all eyes on the #1 model slot. This season, Colinne Michaelis had the honor of opening the Prada show for a host of models including Sara Blomqvist, Mariacarla Boscono, Fei Fei Sun, and Anais Pouliot. Just a few days ago, Colinne walked exclusively for Calvin Klein and though her Prada moment isn’t an exclusive, (she’s since walked for Anteprima and Etro) it’s clear she’s a face to watch.
