While New York might still be recovering from the Met Gala, The Wapping Project unveiled their exhibition of “Unseen Guy Bourdin,” featuring 32 photographs on display to the public for the very first time.
Bourdin’s muse, Nicolle Meyer, was joined by a host of celebrities, including Bryan Ferry, Jefferson Hack, Mike Figgis, Henry Holland, Christopher Kane, Jemima Khan, Natalie Portman, Charlotte Tilbury; models Leanne Bellman, Nicole Kavanagh, Anouck Lepere; and DJ Mimi Xu.
His voyeuristic eye, stiletto fetish, and glossy images are well known. Set in a disused power station, these new images are as provocative and as uncompromising as ever. Bourdin touches on the seedier, grittier side of fashion, yet loses none of the glamour. If looking for inspiration—or an excuse to visit to London—the exhibition runs May 9 through July 4, 2009.
