Modelinia felt as though we were transported to another planet as we entered the Halston presentation at Stage 37. Although upon realizing that designer Marios Schwab was inspired by the film Eyes of Laura Mars, everything began to make sense.
Feeling much more like an art installation than a fashion presentation, models were frozen in different poses throughout a set of angular mirrors placed all around the showroom. Photographers, fashion insiders, and celebrities like Sarah Jessica Parker weaved their way through the set, watching as the models moved their positions ever so slowly.
M.A.C makeup artist Lisa Butler and Wella hairstylist Eugene Souleiman kept things clean and simple by applying little to no color to the face and ironing the hair stick straight. Dresses of all different lengths and colors were topped with architecturally sculpted bodices that molded to the models’ torsos beautifully. Marios added a futuristic theme to his collection, but was still able to keep within the tradition of Halston’s timelessly classic silhouettes. A rather impressive show for Marios and the Halston brand, if you ask us. ~ Sonia Evers
