Tribe Malandrino

Catherine Malandrino’s Fall 2010 collection was in perfect sync with her traveling-inspired Spring collection, continuing to amaze guests with her tribal prints and rich textures. This season the designer was inspired by “an image of the Earth as seen from above,” and what a beautiful—yet fierce—image it was. From the layers of fringe and fur to the leopard-print jackets to the edgy addition of embroidered leather pieces, Catherine’s looks created the perfect desert to take our minds off the cold.

Lyndsey Scott, who we recently saw walking for Victoria’s Secret, stood out among the khaki, black, and brown in an all-blue ensemble with fishnet sleeves and shoes to match, while Danni Li, who also modeled last season for the designer, looked stunning in a printed metallic shirt and chunky bangles. Among the guests that came out to support Catherine Sunday afternoon at the Chelsea Art Museum were the newly red Maggie Rizer and actresses Kate Walsh and Mena Suvari.

And as if the clothes weren’t inspiring enough, the beauty details were complementing and eye-catching, too. The hair—fixated in a striking, shrublike poof atop the ladies’ heads—went along brilliantly with the overall vibe of the show, as did the catlike eyes.
