Walking into the Marchesa dinner on Wednesday night was like stepping back in time. The Darby - the as of yet unopened restaurant on 14th between 7th and 8th - calls to mind an environment of the Prohibition era, complete with a cabaret singer and dark mood lighting. As a celebration of another successful season, Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig invited close friends including Karolina Kurkova, Selita Ebanks, and Veronica Webb to an intimate dinner, complete with flutes of Dom Perignon and toasts as celebration all around. And celebrate they did, as Lady Rizo drew the crowd from their seats with renditions of old favorites like “Aint No Mountain High Enough”, even calling Karolina to the stage to twirl about to a version of Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face”. “They have the polka in the Czech Republic, right?” she joked. Always the good sport, Karolina danced about with Lady Rizo before exiting, undoubtedly tired from her morning at Michael Kors and evening with the boys of Proenza Schouler. ~ Bianca Posterli
