We’ve been on the edge of our seats, anticipating who might come down the runway for the Prada Fall 2010 show in Milan ever since the news broke yesterday that a surprise lineup was in the works. So, needless to say, even though the animated videos kept us entertained while we waited for the live stream to begin, we wanted models!
While we were pleasantly surprised with the roster of models coming down the runway including opener and closer Samantha Gradoville, Joan Smalls, Lindsay Wixson, Lara Stone, Abbey Lee, and Jac, it was a surprise stroll from Victoria’s Secret models Miranda Kerr, Alessandra Ambrosio and Doutzen Kroes that left us speechless. The girls took their turns in the librarian chic style designs, sporting retro style bouffants, knee high cable knit socks, and pointy-toed shoes. Alessandra shared our excitement via twitter, saying that being flown all the way in for 30 seconds on the runway was nothing short of an honor. She told Modelinia that ”it was amazing to return to the runways of Milan. After shooting “THE LOVE THING” with James Lima and Katie Grand for Love Magazine with Prada, I felt so honored to be a part of the show. Miuccia is a true visionary and always incorpates new things into such an iconic brand.”
Trendsetting Miuccia Prada’s choice of including the curvy VS girls in her show is a statement indeed. Prada is an active member in the CFDA and as Coco Rocha told us last week, they have been working to change the industry standards on many fronts, including the current sample size. Doutzen spoke to us about the progress the CFDA is making. “After being a part of the CFDA panel discussion about the model weight issue, I’m so happy to have walked in the Prada show and seeing a change in more healthy looking women on the runway.” As you can see, change is in progress.
