Was New York City feeling a little sexier today? Because not one, but four Victoria’s Secret models were in town, celebrating the news that the fashion show would be in New York this year, commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Body by Victoria collection. A handful of lucky bloggers got to try on the collection at the Herald Square store and chat with the new faces of the line, Emanuela de Paula and Lindsay Ellingson, before Alessandra Ambrosio and Marisa Miller joined in, stopping traffic on 34th Street and in the store.
“New York is the fashion capital of the world, and I think it’s the perfect place to be always!” said Alessandra, positively glowing in white jeans and the most amazing purple patent Louboutins. “You can’t go wrong having a fashion show here. We went through so many different cities and it’s so nice to be back. It’s that feeling that we’re home. And because of that feeling we can do something spectacular. There will be so much going on, so many surprises.”
And while she’s a lover of the city, tomorrow calls for plane rides and last minute packing, as the Brazilian beauty is headed on vacation. “Tomorrow I’m off to Bali with my parents and my daughter and fiancé. I’m going to surf a little bit. Last year I couldn’t go because I was having my daughter, so I’m really excited to see friends, recharge my battery, and be back for the show!”
While Alessandra’s headed out, Lindsay is still reveling in the amazing city that is Manhattan. “I’m so excited that the show is back in New York. It’s like it’s back to its roots. The first show was in 1994, I think, in the Plaza Hotel, so it’s so nice to have it back. And it’s my home, so it’s easy!” When she’s not working, it’s all about exploring and taking advantage of the city. “I went to Governors Island last weekend and went bike riding. The great thing about New York is there’s something new to do every weekend. My favorite thing is to go to a different restaurant every night. I went to this little hole-in-the-wall Spanish restaurant recently that was amazing.”
Along with the anniversary celebration, Victoria’s Secret is kicking off the Love Your Body by Victoria contest, promoting confidence in any type of body, with a chance to win a pampered weekend courtesy of the lingerie brand. The models certainly know a thing or two about having major guts—it certainly takes a lot to be able to strut down that runway in just a bra and panties! “My first show I was so nervous, but I was with my friends and we started dancing backstage to the music,” said Lindsay. “That helped release all the nerves, and I just went out and had fun.”
Emanuela is no longer a new girl on the runway as this will be her second season, but it seems the winged nerves don’t go away. “Every time you do it, you get nervous,” she said. “You never know how it’s going to be. The first time I was really nervous, but all the Angels were really nice. We just had fun and enjoyed the runway. It’s not just a show, it’s an event. Have fun with it. I can’t wait to do it again!”
