Vogue Italia Is Dark and Stormy

In April Vogue Italia went vintage with their perfectly aged cover featuring Eliza Cummings, and then in May Sasha Pivovarova peered out from the floral decoration.

But this month Meghan Collison is the cover girl, and Steven Meisel chose to highlight the model in a deep, dark somber look. She’s a little bit ’80s meets hipster with the perfectly messed up hair, oh so cool gloves, and cat eyes. And what a combination of talent that created this shot! Karl Templer styled the mysterious shoot, with Pat McGrath on makeup detail and hair by Guido Palau, at the Villain Space in NYC.

This marks Meghan’s third cover for the magazine following October ‘07 and November ‘07, and celebrates her return to model-land since her return to the runway in February. Inside the magazine also honors the talent of Malgosia Bela in “The Fashion and the Fantasy,” by Tim Walker; Sessilee Lopez in “A Singular Style,” by Tom Munro; Imogen Morris Clarke and Abbey Lee Kershaw in “NEO-romantic,” by Emma Summerton; and a bevy of newer girls, including Dorothea Barth Jorgensen, Meghan Collison, Nimue Smit, Julia Hafstrom, Anna de Rijk, Sara Blomqvist, and Darya Kurovska in “All Tomorrow’s Parties,” by Steven Meisel. As a whole, the issue is just so ’80s-amazing that we kind of need to blast some old-school Madonna. Like now.
