Okay, so not the month, but clearly what everyone in the fashion world has been waiting for: The September Issue!
Last night, the Museum of Modern Art hosted a deluge of editors, designers, and, yes, models for the premiere of the documentary that has been making headlines for ages now. And while normally fashion arrivals are notoriously late, this was a spectacle to see. In only a half-hour window of time, guests made their appearance, posed for pictures, and mingled in the correct attire for the evening: no black and very colorful, per the requests of those above.
Hilary Rhoda and Raquel Zimmermann both made model cameos in the movie, but given their line of work, were quite unfazed by the additional cameras on set. “I know what goes on behind the scenes, but it’s really cool for people to see from our own eyes,” said Hilary.

Emily DiDonato, the new face of Maybelline, was clearly in awe of the evening, as she met André Leon Talley on the red carpet for the first time ever. “It was amazing! He was a bit busy taking pictures, but he’s an important person and he needs to do his thing! It’s an amazing story. I can’t wait to watch the movie, I want to run back there.” Talk about a memorable night. Dressed in Narciso Rodriguez, she was glowing with excitement as it’s a really big week for her. Not only did she meet ALT and see The September Issue in one night, but she’ll be moving into her new apartment in New York on Mercer Street on Monday, just graduated from high school and wants to take classes at Hunter College, plus she was named the new face of Maybelline. “I’ve known Maybelline forever—it was my first makeup! Those little pink tubes of mascara? Now that I’m a face for them, it’s mind-blowing.” Since the beauty brand is sponsoring the shows at Bryant Park, with any luck Emily will be walking in at least a few shows. “I’m hopefully going to be walking, I’m going to try my best. It’ll be my first time appearing at the shows. Look out for me!”

But the film wasn’t the only September news that was a discussion topic of the night. Anne Vyalitsyna sported a Fashion’s Night Out T-shirt with her hot red skirt, and Anna Wintour (in a surprisingly chatty mood) answered questions all the way down the red carpet about not only the film, but also September 10th and the thousands of events that are set to occur. Raquel, in Narciso Rodriguez, apparently shares our marathon planning for the evening, as she told Modelinia, “I’ll be running around the city.” See you out and about then!

If you’ve seen the new September 2009 issue of Vogue, you know that Karlie Kloss is an honored model. She has not only a quote from Steven Meisel, but also an editorial with the glossy’s favorite: Caroline Trentini. “She’s divine,” Grace Coddington said breathlessly about Karlie. “She’s just totally willing to do anything. She’s brave, she’s always in a good mood, and she’s beautiful.”
The lucky girl, in Jason Wu, shared a quick hug with Marc Jacobs between questions from reporters—she is the face of his new fragrance, after all—and reveled in her Vogue love. “It’s an honor to be even associated with Vogue. I owe all my success to the support I’ve received from Vogue and Anna Wintour. I’m so grateful.” We just had to ask about posing with Caroline, as it must have been an experience, no? “It was so much fun! I felt like we were at a marathon because they had all this equipment: boats, bikes, fishing gear, and helmets. It was intense. I was ready to go run a marathon.”
Modelinia is seeing the movie tonight, so we’ll be back with more details tomorrow!
