Ali Stephens was born May 10, 1991 in Salt Lake City. She enjoyed a normal childhood far from the glamour of the fashion industry, competing as a cross-country runner in high school. But in 2007, everything changed: She was discovered while shopping with her family.
After signing with Elite, Ali stormed the fashion world, opening Prada's show in Milan in September 2007. Shows in Paris for Chanel, Dries Van Noten, Givenchy, and Louis Vuitton quickly followed.
In the wake of her big debut on the runways, Ali was immediately spotlighted as a rising star in countless publications, from Pop magazine to Style.com to Vmagazine.com. And so began 2008, which could be called the Year of Ali, with Chloé, M Missoni, ck Calvin Klein, Prada Sport, and Gap scooping her up for their campaigns. Ali was booked for 46 shows that fall, including the exclusive opening position at Calvin Klein in New York. She also landed her first cover, the March issue of W Korea, photographed by David Byun. Editorials in Vogue Paris, shot by Patrick Demarchelier, and Vogue Italia, shot by David Sims, furthered her standing as an It girl. What solidified it? A cosmetics contract with Chanel.
For the Spring 2009 shows, Ali opened Peter Som in New York and closed Jonathan Saunders, Preen, and Sophia Kokosalaki. What more could be in store for her? Time will tell, but pay close attention because this girl is fast—she runs a 5:31 mile!
