Amber Evangeline Valletta was born on February 9, 1974, in Phoenix, Arizona, and was raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. At 15 she enrolled at the Linda Layman Agency modeling school, and just two years later became the face of Calvin Klein's Eternity fragrance. Amber became an editorial favorite, gracing the covers of Elle, Vogue, Vogue Italia, and Harper's Bazaar. Her cover-queen status was solidified in 1996 when her face appeared on British Vogue an astounding three times. That same year she revived her role as the face of Versace and became the cohost of MTV's House of Style with friend and fellow model Shalom Harlow.

Amber made her movie debut in the fashion documentary Unzipped, and over the years has had credited roles in a number of big Hollywood films, including What Lies Beneath, The Family Man, Raising Helen, and Hitch.

Committed to using her face to promote positive change, Amber is a dedicated supporter of many social causes. In 1995 she organized the charity fashion show Supermodels Stepping Out Against Hunger to benefit the community food bank in Tulsa. In addition, Amber serves as spokesperson for Oceana's Seafood Contamination Campaign, which focuses on bringing awareness to the dangers of mercury poisoning in seafood.

Amber married Olympic volleyball player Chrisitan McCraw, who, coincidently, was also raised in Tulsa. In 2000, she gave birth to their son, Auden.

Though she was one of the most prolific models of the '90s, Amber certainly shows no signs of slowing down. She recently appeared in much-hyped editorials in Vogue Italia and Pop, and was shot by Hedi Slimane in a V Magazine spread profiling her as a burgeoning actress.
