Anna Selezneva was born on July 29, 1990, in Moscow.
In 2007, Anna signed a representation deal with international agency Silent Models, which is based in Paris. In October of that year, the then-17-year-old made her debut on the runways of the fashion capital. Premiering at the Spring 2008 shows for designers such as Akris, Dries Van Noten, and Celine, Anna also scored her first magazine cover, gracing the November 2007 issue of Vogue Italia.
Anna was the subject of a May 2008 Interview editorial, as well as an October V Magazine spread, which were shot by renowned fashion photographers Patrick Demarchelier and Mario Testino, respectively. Shortly after her 18th birthday, Anna’s profile received a major boost when she was featured on the covers of both the French and Russian editions of Vogue in September 2008.
During the autumn of 2008, Anna was kept busy walking the runways for many top designers. She participated in more than two dozen Spring 2009 ready-to-wear shows for major-name design houses, such as Calvin Klein, Jean Paul Gaultier, Gucci, Karl Lagerfeld, and Christian Dior. Anna also fronted the Fall ad campaigns for Vera Wang and Chloé.
Her covers have included the Italian and Japanese editions of Vogue early in 2009, as well as the Spring 2009 cover of Look in the U.S. Anna was featured in British Vogue’s “Spring Break” editorial in February 2009 and was the face of the Calvin Klein Collection’s Spring/Summer ad campaign, shot by David Sims. She also has been photographed by world-famous photographers Peter Lindbergh and Steven Meisel, in addition to Demarchelier and Testino.
A serious buzz is building around Anna among the fashion world’s top editors, photographers, and designers, who predict that the Russian model will emerge as the industry’s “next big thing.” Casting director Angus Munro named her one of the Top 10 Models of Fall 2008 in V Magazine, and Carine Roitfeld, the renowned stylist and current editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris, is another big fan. High-profile ad campaigns for Vera Wang, Chloé, Calvin Klein, and Chanel cosmetics are further proof that Anna is standing on the verge of a huge career. Imagist.com states that “Anna Selezneva is the Spring 2009 girl to watch.” We are watching!
