Arlenis Sosa Peña, who hails from the Dominican Republic, has a fairy godmother, and her name is Anna Wintour.
The Vogue editor met Arlenis and immediately planned her first experience at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Gala, instructing her to attend the event with fellow Dominican designer Oscar de le Renta in one of his gowns.
It all began for Arlenis in her home country, where she was spotted on the street by a designer. She soon signed with Marilyn Agency, and, within two weeks of moving to New York, shot with Steven Meisel and was booked for Vogue Italia's iconic Black issue.
The love affair with Oscar de la Renta continued as she opened and closed his show in September 2008. Arlenis has also walked for such designers as Christian Dior, Bottega Veneta, Isaac Mizrahi, Michael Kors, Derek Lam, and Matthew Williamson.
To top it all off, Arlenis snagged a prestigious Lancôme contract in September 2008, and walked in the Victoria's Secret show that November. If her power moves during the very first year of her modeling career are any indication, we'll be seeing a lot of this beauty.
