Behati Prinsloo, born in Namibia on May 16, 1989, never wanted to be a model. But when Sarah Doukas, the same Storm scout who discovered Kate Moss, decided Behati was the next hot thing, she just couldn't say no.

After she was discovered—at age 16 while vacationing in Cape Town, South Africa—Behati debuted for Prada and Miu Miu exclusively in September 2005. That same month she appeared in an editorial for British Vogue. After a Vogue Italia editorial in December, it was back to Paris and Milan for the Fendi, Chanel, and Alexander McQueen shows in February 2006. A second British Vogue editorial, photographed by Mario Testino, came in March.

Jumping on the Behati bandwagon in 2006, WWD and Style.com flagged her as a rising star and top newcomer. Nina Ricci, H&M, and Marc by Marc Jacobs campaigns followed, along with runway turns for Chanel, Elie Saab, and Jean Paul Gaultier couture, leaving no doubt that Behati had hit the big time. The icing on the cake? Henry Holland singled out this lovely lady on a T-shirt for his Fall collection that read, "Fancy a screw, Behati Prinsloo?" If all her great work didn't get her noticed, this shirt likely did the trick.

More good fortune followed in 2007 and 2008: campaigns for Tommy Hilfiger (alongside BFF Coco Rocha), Gap, DKNY Jeans, and Nine West, as well as a Vogue Italia editorial with Mikhail Baryshnikov. In 2008, Behati signed with Victoria's Secret to represent the Pink Collection and became a household name with walks in the lingerie giant's fashion shows.
