Most models' runway careers come to an end at a certain point. But not that of Inès de la Fressange. At 51, she strutted down the catwalk for Jean Paul Gaultier's Spring 2009 couture collection, proving that she could still hold her own among the younger girls.
Inès was born on August 11, 1957, to André de Seignard de La Fressange and Cecilia Sanchez-Cirez. The world of modeling was nothing new to the family, as Cecilia was an Argentine model before Inès took to the catwalk. Talk about good genes!
To pair with the familial fabulous look, Inès signed an exclusive contract with the Chanel fashion brand, becoming the first model to do so with a couture house. From there, the relationship with Karl Lagerfeld grew into one of muse/designer.
During her time as a model, Inès served as not only the face for Chanel, but also as the muse for Thierry Mugler, and posed as Marianne—the face of France—in 1989. As for her personal life, Inès married Luigi d'Urso in 1990, and the couple had two daughters: Nine and Violette.
And Inès' passion for the fashion industry has done anything but fade. Not only did she create her own clothing line, but she also serves as a consultant for Jean Paul Gaultier. Inès was approached by Diego Della Valle to bring back the Roger Vivier shoe brand to its former popularity—which she has accomplished, of course. You can always count on a supermodel to get the job done.
