A Houston baby, Julie Henderson was born in 1986 into the grapefruit family fame: Her grandfather, Sam Henderson, invented the Henderson grapefruit in the 1960s, a hybrid of the original.
Julie got her modeling start at a young age—she was only 13 when she was discovered by Barbizon Modeling School in Texas. From there, Julie went on to Manhattan and signed with New York Model Management when she was 16, officially breaking into the industry. Her career began, and she launched into magazines, posing for glossies like Teen Vogue, and Elle Girl, Harper’s Bazaar.
Most famously, Julie was selected to appear in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issues, beginning in 2007. Her involvement with the magazine lead to multiple issues, a cover spot for the calendar in 2010, and even a daylong internship with one of the editors.
