"I find that the fashion business is not geared to keeping the model forever, anymore. I think that's a really good thing. It's a business of the new. It's a young thing. It doesn't last forever. You have to move on!”
Most models become world travelers after they break into the industry, but Mariacarla became one way before her entrance into the modeling industry.

Most models become world travelers after they break into the industry, due to their busy schedules which includes jetting back and forth between photoshoots, runway events, and campaign shots. But Mariacarla Boscono became a world traveler way before her entrance into the modeling industry.
Though she was born in Rome, Italy on September 20, 1980, her family picked up shortly after to move to Rhode Island, then Florida, but returned to Italy quickly to reunite with her homeland.
The travels didn’t end there. When Mariacarla turned nine, it was time to pack the bags again, as her family picked up their belongings and headed to Africa for a new adventure.
But of all the experiences and places she lived in her youth, it was a simple dinner party that began her adventures in modeling. A photographer family friend suggested that she try out the career path, send pictures to Piero Pazzi in Milan, and shortly after, Mariacarla was on her way to becoming the star she is today.
Early on, Mariacarla became close with Riccardo Tisci while they were first beginning their careers and became fast friends, a long-term model and designer relationship that would lead to a muse role with Givenchy– a relationship that’s continued to this day.
Through the years, she’s graced covers including L'Officiel, Interview, French Vogue, W, Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, and i-D. Her stellar glossy history is only a portion of Mariacarla’s experience as a model, as she’s walked the runway for Chanel, Marc Jacobs, Escada, Givenchy, Etro, Dolce & Gabbana, and Yves Saint Laurent, while serving as the campaign face for brands like Gucci, Fendi, Versace, Jean Paul Gaultier, John Galliano, and Hermes. In one season alone, she walked over 70 runway shows, cementing her role as an in demand model, and a favorite face to many designers.
