Molly Sims, the ultimate all-American girl-next-door, was born on May 25, 1973, in Murray, Kentucky, to Jim and Dottie Sims. She swam competitively for 10 years while growing up. After high school, Molly attended Vanderbilt University with hopes of becoming a lawyer. She joined Delta Delta Delta and lived the college life. Two years into her degree, at the suggestion of her roommate, she submitted a few photographs of herself to a number of agencies in Manhattan. When Molly received a call from NEXT Models, she signed with them and left college in 1993 to pursue a modeling career.
One of her first big campaigns was with Old Navy, whose tag line—"You gotta get this look!"—made her a well-known face. Ads followed for brands such as Michael Kors, Armani, Maidenform, and Chanel, and Molly had a contract with CoverGirl for several years. She has graced the pages of the Victoria's Secret catalog and has appeared on the covers of Lucky, Mademoiselle, Self, Cosmopolitan, Vogue España, French Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, and Madame Figaro.
Molly appeared in Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit edition for a staggering five years out of seven—in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, and 2006. In the 2006 issue, she was photographed wearing a Susan Rosen bikini made of diamonds and worth $30 million.
In 2001, Molly began hosting MTV’s House of Style, following in the footsteps of models Cindy Crawford and Rebecca Romijn.
Molly transitioned to acting with a long-term role in the NBC show Las Vegas from 2003 to 2008, playing Delinda Deline, the daughter of James Caan’s character, Big Ed Deline. Her cinema debut came in 2004, as the wife of gangster Reese Feldman, played by Vince Vaughn, in the big-screen spoof Starsky & Hutch. Molly’s next role was as Liz in the Rob Schneider laugh-fest The Benchwarmers in 2006.
Molly fully supports Friends of El Faro, a grassroots nonprofit that helps raise money for Casa Hogar Sion, an orphanage in Tijuana, Mexico. She has hosted the organization’s last two fundraisers and visits the orphanage regularly.
"Be yourself, fill your life with good people, and don't get a big head. It can all be gone tomorrow." Wise words to live by—no wonder Molly has sustained such a successful career over the past 15 years.
