Born in the small town if Poznan in the Wielkopolska province of Poland, Monika Jagaciak tried her hand at modeling after being encouraged by her sister to attend a casting call at a local shopping center. She signed to IMG in 2007 and immediately hit the fast track to superstardom. Scoring her first Hermes campaign in the Fall 2007 season and landing covers of Japanese Elle & Harper’s Bazaar in 2008, Jac had made a name for herself in the fashion industry before ever setting foot on the runway.
In her debut runway season, February of 2009, the polish beauty both opened and closed the Calvin Klein show in New York making her one of the most talked about fresh faces of the season. She later opened the Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti show and closed Marc by Marc Jacobs, sealing her fate as a runway staple at only 15! Jac has been blowing away both casting directors and editors alike ever since.
Since her runway debut Jac has been the face of campaigns from Calvin Klein to Valentino and covered magazines like Numéro & W Korea. She had an immensely successful Spring 2012 season walking in Alexander Wang, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Anna Sui, Rag & Bone, Donna Karan, and more. On top of her runway strut, opener status, and editorial prowess, Jac is also an aspiring stylist.
