Despite the fact that the fashion industry sometimes affectionately refers to Morgane Dubled as the "sleep walker" because of her laid-back attitude and tired eyes, this girl is no slacker!
Morgane was born on July 1, 1986 in Nice, France. She was first scouted when she was 16 by G. Simon Chafik for Elite in her hometown in 2001. Although she accepted the offer from Elite, she was still very young and wasn't completely happy with the way she felt her career was going, so she left the agency to concentrate on her studies.
After getting her baccalaureate, Morgane attended the medical school Faculté de Médecine de Nice. She changed her direction after one year and moved to Paris for a year in Hypokhâgne to prepare for the École Normale Supérieure—one of the most prestigious universities in Europe. She started modeling again as a part-time job to pay for school, but soon her interest in the modeling world rose and she decided to try it full time.
Since her first catwalk season in Fall 2004, Morgane has become a popular runway model, featured in fashion shows in Milan, Paris, and New York, walking for big names like Dolce & Gabbana, Versace, Hermès, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Lanvin, Armani, Fendi, Ralph Lauren, Marc Jacobs, Chanel, Christian Lacroix, Dior, Emanuel Ungaro, Viktor & Rolf, Stella McCartney, Gucci, John Galliano, Calvin Klein, and Nina Ricci among others.
Morgane has done editorial work with many renowned photographers, including Terry Richardson, Craig McDean, Mark Abrahams, John Akehurst, Eric Maillet, and David Sims. She has graced the cover of Russian Vogue and did campaign work for Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, Just Cavalli, Jean-Paul Gaultier, and Rochas (last directed by Bruno Aveillan). She has also participated in every Victoria's Secret fashion from 2005 to 2008.
However, Morgane has a lot to say about what it really is that makes you succeed: "There are so many things to being a top a model, you know. You have to be really, really professional. You have to be on time—it's little details that make you appreciated by the client. Your face has to be able to change a lot; you need to be sexy and then be able to look like a little girl or whatever—you are always styled differently. Everything has to fit you."
She adds, "I've learned how to understand my body, how to walk, how to present myself, how to talk to people, and not be fake at the same time. That can get really dangerous if you are playing a game. You have to try and show yourself in the best way. You know? It's a big human experience!"
Will she go back to medicine when the modeling's finished? She clearly has a lot to contribute in every way.
