Beauty: Fall Trends to Try Now

We couldn’t resist trying out the latest beauty looks spotted on the Fall 2009 runways. Just in time for spring, we found nine timeless trends that you can start to wear right now.

Trend 1: Full Brows. According to WWD, Shiseido Artistic Director Dick Page says the look he created for Alexander Wang’s Fall 2009 show was "a little androgynous, a little masculine." Model Kim Noorda reflects this strong, impactful look.

Trend 2: Silver Shadow. The new neutral not only looks great day or night, but the color also works for all skin tones and eye colors. At Badgley Mischka, a wash of platinum powder frames model Lakshmi Menon’s eyes.

Trend 3: Cat Eyes. At Michael Kors Fall 2009 show, fair-haired Belarusian model Tanya Dziahileva’s infamous doe eyes look even larger with winged-out gray shadow for an even more dramatic effect.

Trend 4: Line Those Eyes. At Anna Sui’s Fall 2009 show, makeup artist Pat McGrath smudged the shadow on models’ eyes before they took to the runway, but kept their liner dark, crisp, and bold.

Trend 5: Shadow Liner. To replicate Chanel Iman’s look at Michael Kors’ Fall 2009 show, stick with a true black liner that has been sharpened just before applying. Then, blend gray or silver shadow just underneath the lash line.

Trend 6: Standout Pout. If you decide to replicate the lip seen on the Marc Jacob’s Fall 2009 runway, the key to pulling it off is a precise application.

Trend 7: Light Lips. At Rag & Bone, makeup artist Gucci Westman used a softer hand when creating this look for model Coco Rocha. By staining lips with a warm red lipstick and skipping a liner, the result is effortless yet still dramatic.

Trend 8: Earth Tones. At Thakoon’s Fall 2009 show, a palette of cocoas and terracottas were rubbed on eyes, lips, and cheeks. Matte is a must, as seen on model Jourdan Dunn, to carry off the look.

Trend 9: À La Naturale. At Diane von Furstenberg, MAC Cosmetics Makeup Artist James Kaliardos shaded the models’ faces with natural tones, including taupes on eyes for subtle definition and applying beige eye shadow onto the edges of the lips “to finish off [the face].”
