Fashion Week Runway Beauty Report: Nails

Of course we loved the clothes, but did you see her nails!?

Donna Karan sent her models down the runway in weightless, feminine looks that made it look as if they were floating down the runway.

And on their nails models wore a pale shade of pink that complemented the natural and neutral shades of the fashions.

Philippe Chansel for M.A.C was in charge of makeup for the Rosa Cha show, where shades of golden lemon and coral were the colors du jour for beauty as well as fashion.

To top off the look, models wore Dashing Diva Nail Polish in Miranda’s Law, which will no doubt be a favorite come springtime.

To contrast the amazing bursts of color that came down the runway, Zac Posen successfully executed a sort of modern ballerina look for the runway for Spring 2010. Models showed off slicked-back updos—the back of which were accented with Day-Glo-colored extensions—with flushed pink cheeks.

Pastel pink lacquered nails completed the look.

Color was a focus in Michael Angel's Spring 2010 collection. He wrote a message on his inspiration board for the models to read before walking out onto the runway. It read: "You are a gift—all wrapped up in color and jewels."

Some models sported metallic blue polish. Get this look with Essie's limited edition Capri Blue, created especially for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Capri Blue is inspired by the 2010 E-Class vehicles from Mercedes-Benz.Can't get your fingers on it? Essie's Midnight Cami color will get the job done, too.

While others had their press-on talons painted a shimmery gold.

The colorful crowds that mob East Coast boardwalks were the inspiration for Derek Lam's Spring 2010 collection for both fashion and beauty. Tom Pecheux for Nars evoked bright summer days with the use of pinks, purples, and oranges.

And for contrast, he kept nails dark with Sally Hansen Nail Polish in Blazing Blue.

From the painted on black tribal body art designed by M.A.C senior artist Chantel Miller to the dark lips, goth was clearly on display at the Spring 2010 Rodarte show.

Vinyl record-colored black nail polish is a must for a style profile like this. Get the look with Deborah Lippman's Fade to Black.

The entire Alexander Wang Spring Summer 2010 look is totally wearable from the sporty chic clothes to the loose braid and subtle makeup - nail included.

A neutral alpine snow colored polish is one that works easily to take you from day to night.

Vena Cava was also loving the blue - their choice was a midnight shade from Butter London. Since it won't be available until spring, make due with their Mariner or Big Smoke blue hues in the meantime.

A Picasso painting inspired Ruffian in the design of their spring line. And the nail art was no less dramatic. Tips were filed to a point and decorated with CND Plumville - a bright fuschia - and then piped with CND's Blackjack for a dramatic finish.
