Who said black on black was boring? Rule Breaker Alessandra Ambrosio proves that all dark can look beyond cool on the red carpet for the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards at Radio City Music Hall. Mix up your pieces like Ale does with a dress, cool booties, and studded clutch, and suddenly black is anything but blah.

Marisa Miller proves that when it comes to style you don't have to be pigeonholed. Usually considered Contemporary Chic, Marisa Miller decided to break the rules at the 2009 ESPY Awards in Los Angeles, wearing a gold-chain belt with ribbon detail over a chic strapless dress.

Sometimes it's the details that add the best elements to a design. Dree Hemingway chose a black color palette for the American Ballet Theatre's 69th Annual Spring Gala, but her varied hemline and her over-the-top collar added that extra bit of wow.

Most people would shy away from matching fur with hot pink, but Agyness Deyn takes her chances as a Rule Breaker. At the Love magazine Christmas Tea and Treasure Hunt, she dressed up her simple pink dress with a '80s-style neon headband and a fur to keep herself warm.

For the annual Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Kate Moss not only hosted the event, but actually worked with Stephen Jones to design a turban to match the Marc Jacobs dress she wore for the evening.

Molly Sims proves that even on the red carpet it's possible to go extremely bold with your fashion choices. She chose an all-gold Dolce & Gabbana dress with an exaggerated neckline and a matching clutch for "The Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion" Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
