Fashion for Relief Haiti The mood was rightfully energetic, as Naomi Campbell arrived in New York City to put on the Fashion for Relief Haiti runway extravaganza, which sold out to American Express cardholders in just four hours. “Everyone cares and everyone wants to contribute,” said Naomi. “Fashion is a big umbrella and we can all come together for fashion. It doesn’t discriminate. I saw an image of a man guarding a child and that image just stayed in my mind.” Selita Ebanks, Natasha Poly, Sasha Pivovarova, Arlenis Sosa, Irina Lazareanu, Helena Christensen, Angela Lindvall, Iris Strubegger, and Sessilee Lopez all took to the runway, as did Agyness Deyn, Tanya D and Hana Soukupova who closed.

Model-turned-DJ If the trend of models turned DJs continues, real DJs might have a problem landing gigs. The latest model to join the musical world is Hannah Holman, who provided her tunes for an early evening party in the W Lounge backstage at the Bryant Park Hotel. Fresh off the Marc Jacobs and Marc by Marc Jacobs runway, Hannah called in reinforcements for her tunes. “They told me to make a playlist, and I was nervous it wouldn’t be what everyone liked,” she explained. “I’m quite insecure about my music, so I went to my agency and they gave me their favorites and some classics I wouldn’t know because I’m too young.”

Model-turned-Designer Model and style icon Alexa Chung added a new title to her resume this past Fashion Week: designer. Alexa debuted her first collection Alexa Chung for Madewell - made up of adorable tea dresses, stripes, and perfectly layered cardigans and jackets that all had that polished vintage feel Alexa channels so well. “It was like a dream, really,” Alexa said of her first ever collaboration with the label. “I really love their brand and really like their vision and how relaxed and laid-back it is.”

Lovers and Fighters at the Y-3 Laser Show The show began with laser beams and a forward march of seasoned models. Hanne Gaby Odiele, Eniko Mihalik, Anabela Belikova, and Vlada Roslyakova were just a few of the ladies who walked down the lengthy runway with their male model counterparts. Following a brief “intermission” in which a group of models performed a phys-ed style suicide sprint, the presentation resumed, until another group emerged unsheathing red roses to hand to lucky front-row guests. At the end, the designer himself staged a fight with a male model and Freja Beha Erichsen, who walked away victorious.

Model Star Power at Alexander Wang To say that Alexander Wang held a power model lineup for his Fall 2010 show would be a vast understatement. From Karlie Kloss to Agyness Deyn to Sasha Pivovarova to Natasha Poly, heads were turning at the major models here, there, everywhere. It goes without saying that the runway stunners for Alex had nothing but praise for the designer. “I love him to death. He’s a sweetheart,” quipped Agyness, while Natasha admitted that she buys his designs every chance she gets, and Iris Strubegger gushed over her favorite leather bag created by Alex.

Model Icons at Calvin Klein The lights went down as the Calvin Klein show began, and guests were treated to a short light show on the floor of the runway, mixed with music from Alva Noto. Brand favorite Jac opened the show, but her appearance was only the beginning of exciting model moments which transpired in just 34 looks. Francisco Costa brought model icons Kristen McMenamy, Stella Tennant, and Kirsty Hume to walk in his show - and created a runway moment that we will not soon forget.

The End of an Era Emotions were high Thursday night as models, editors, stylists, celebrities, and the good old-fashioned crazies we’ve come to know and love crowded into the Tents at Bryant Park one last time for the Tommy Hilfiger show. Models marched to a U2/Taylor Swift mashup in the designer’s classic American digs, infused this time with a refreshing spunk and a chic twist on East Coast preppy style. Frida Gustavsson, Dorothea Barth Jorgensen, Jac, Mirte Maas, Tati Cotliar, and Jacquelyn Jablonski brought their youthful energy to the mix, while girls like Chanel Iman, Edita Vilkeviciute, Liu Wen, and show closer Kasia Struss walked with confidence in this historic moment.
