CHANEL IMAN
Hi, my name is Chanel Iman, and I'm from Los Angeles, California.
It all began when I came to New York. From there, it was nonstop.
INTERVIEWER
So what was it like to sit through the Tyra Bank Show today?
CHANEL IMAN
It's always fun with Tyra. My first experience in front of the camera, I was really shy. I'm a really shy girl. Deep down inside, I'm just now breaking out of my shell.
Get low, low, low.
I just thought, you know, it's all about having fun and being yourself.
You cut your hair, huh?
FEMALE
Yeah. You noticed? No one noticed.
CHANEL IMAN
I noticed.
A camera, all it is, is a piece of equipment.
Everybody has their own style, so there really isn't a right or wrong. Your style is your style.
My mom used to be a designer. When she was pregnant with me, she kind of got inspired by Coco Chanel and named me Chanel. I'm special to be named after an amazing house of fashion.
INTERVIEWER
What are you wearing tonight?
CHANEL IMAN
Tonight, I'm wearing Chanel.
I started when I was about 12, 13 years old in Los Angeles. I came to New York when I was 15. My first modeling job was Teen Vogue. I am a Teen Vogue girl. In my spare time, I like to go on YouTube. I'm always listening to music.
Please don't stop the music.
I like to travel around the world. I just had a vacation in Miami.
It's hard because I'm like working constantly every day.
Very into vacationing.
Yeah.
Off set, I'm never wearing makeup. I wear makeup for a living all the time.
I just got my makeup and my hair done. And I'm getting my feet done by the fabulous Lulu down here. She's great.
So I'd try to stay away from makeup.
I really consider myself not a black girl. I consider myself a woman and I want to relate to everyone and not just black, not just white, just whatever. I am an American, so I'm very proud to be an American.
Obama.
I've been very blessed.
I'm just excited to be in the show.
I'm happy.
Hi, my name is Chanel Iman, and you're watching Modelinia.
