DAUL KIM
Hi. My name is Daul Kim.
I’m from Seoul.
Today, you’re going to go around New York with me. We’re going to go to Chinatown.
I like Chinatown because I grew up in Singapore so I lived in, like, Southeast Asia for 14 years. So it's nice to be, like, kind of around that food, you know. I can order in Chinese. Watch. (SPEAKS FOREIGN LANGUAGE) My Chinese's sucks. My Korean's better.
I started modeling when I was 13. The first time I was on the runway, I was scared. But nowadays, like, I really get into the music and the vibe of the clothes. Each runway show, each designer, each theme is different and each clothes is different so you walk differently. And you have to be the different girl all the time.
Like for Rodarte, like, you have to be like, kind of, like an android.
For like Dolce & Gabbana, you have to be kind of, like, fierce, you know.
To me, it’s like showing the clothes, and fitting into the concept. I have to change myself for the concept. So I really like--take this video. I like a lot of designers, yeah, depending on their season.
I don’t want to look like, “Oh, I’m so contemporary--oh, you know, I’m so cool.” I really don’t like dressing like that. I get a lot of, like, dressing inspirations from those, like, '70s, like, gangster movies, and, you know, like, really, like, study people--how they dress, I really love it.
I don’t want to look so cool
oh. Thank you for hanging out with me today. I had so much fun. I hope it wasn't too bad for you and I hope to run into you and say, “Hi.”
Buy me coffee if you see me. (LAUGH) Kidding.
