TERRI APANASEWICZ
Hi, I'm Terri Apanasewicz. And today, on Remodeled, we're gonna be recreating a beauty look worn by Karolina Kurkova. Karolina and I went to the Academy Of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas. Her outfit made a big statement, so I wanted to make sure to create a look that kept the hair and makeup subtle so that the dress would stand out. I think this look would translate really well for a Sunday brunch with the girls or an afternoon tea. I'm gonna take you through a step-by-step look.
First, we're gonna start with concealer. I like to do a few dots and then blend it in under the eye so that you don't ever apply too much. So, you'll take your concealer under the eyes and wherever else you might want to get rid of any imperfections. Then, I'm gonna take my translucent powder. Anywhere I put concealer, I'm gonna dab a little bit of translucent powder. So now, we're set. We've got our eyes popped and brightened up. We're gonna go with our mineral powder foundation. I always use two colors. What I like about it is that it adds more dimension to the face. So, I'm gonna dust that on. So, voila.
Moving on to cheeks. I'm choosing a blush that has minimal color, but has a little sheen built in, and just dust over the apple of the cheek. That's this area right here, around this. And that's where we really naturally blush, and so we want to enhance that.
Grooming eyebrows is really important. And this is gonna be different for everybody, depending on the shape of your brow and if you wax or tweeze or if you're, like, more of a natural brow. You should always start by grooming the brow by brushing it up into a nice shape. This will let you see the strength of your brow and where you need to enhance it. After you add your, uh, brow color, whether it's a pencil or a powder, re-brush, and this will also make it more subtle and make the enhancement part of your natural brow.
Moving on to eyes. So, we're gonna concentrate on using a green and gold and then some mascara. Okay, so I'm gonna apply this beautiful light green shadow across her entire lid. You just want to make sure that the color is there to enhance your look as opposed to being the look. Then what I like to do with more of a taupe color just to add a little definition. And opposed to putting a color in the crease, put a color right above the crease. This is where you see where you actually need the placement. See the difference? It just pops her out. I'm gonna put this as an extra little pop of light just on the inside corner of the eyelid. It's very subtle, but it's just gonna add a little glimmer of light and pop, and, and I think it will really catch people's attention. I'm gonna carry on with the green color that we used on her lid. I'm gonna go on underneath the bottom lashes.
When you're curling your lashes, make sure to get the eyelash curler at the base. Then you'll want to squeeze it once. And if you have long enough lashes, before you remove those curler completely, you want to slide it out a little bit and squeeze it again. And depending on the length of your lashes, do it incrementally if you have room. And it gives you more of a nice, gradual curve. So, for mascara, if you're gonna do bottom mascara, do it first. And what I like to do is take a tissue and wipe off most of the color. Doing the bottom first gives you time to let that dry before you start doing the top so you don't get too much spotting down there from looking up. Now we're gonna do the top, starting as close as you can to the roots, and then going out to the ends. So, you can see, it's made such a difference in just adding that mascara.
Moving on to the lips. I've chosen a coraly color for Celeste's lips. It's gonna have a little hint of color but still stay on the sheer side. And voila, there we have the Karolina Kurkova Academy Of Country Music Awards look.
So, let's go from the beginning. So, we started with our concealer. Few dots under the eyes. Blend it in with your finger. Set it with your translucent powder. Use your mineral powder foundation all over the face, keeping a lighter one on the inside and a darker one on the outside for more dimension. Then we went in and we did a sheer color blush with some sheen, keeping it on the apples of the cheeks. Groom the brows where we needed it, always remembering to brush through them. Then the eyes, I did my green across the lid, the taupe for a little definition from the crease up. I took my green also underneath the lash, and then I used a little bit of gold in the inside corner for a little bit of pop. Finish it off with some top and bottom mascara. And then, finish it off with a sheer coral lip gloss. No lip liner.
